Mr. Nimbus report Sep 29, 2026 11:03 AM – 11:46 AM

[Sep 29, 2026 11:03 AM] Nimbus: The logic works — but there's a snag: the email list has zero subscribers right now, so "email first" today reaches nobody.

Fastest fix: I prep the piece as the inaugural Field Notes email, you (or I, if you want) put up a Facebook teaser today — "The Interrogation Room: why AI 'goes rogue,' first edition goes to the email list" — with the signup form link. That seeds the list with the hot subject, and the moment there are names, the piece goes out. Blog follows when the password's recovered tomorrow.

Want me to draft the Facebook teaser post while I prep the email?

[Sep 29, 2026 11:04 AM] Gerald: We have list for emailing, congress , news etal. Use that ok?

[Sep 29, 2026 11:04 AM] Nimbus: Yes — with one flag. That list was built for the economic brief, and most of the 29 never got it (only WSJ, WaPo, and Issues & Insights received the brief). So for most of them, this AI piece would be first contact on an unrelated topic.

It still works, but the framing has to do the work: subject line says exactly what it is ("AI Anthropologist: ..."), first line introduces you in one breath. Nobody should open it expecting the debt brief.

One call for you: the whole list, or just the press + think tank names? The congressional econ staffers are the likeliest to bin an AI piece. I'd go press + think tanks — the ones built to bite on a hot subject.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:05 AM] Gerald: Our congress emailing was problematic?

[Sep 29, 2026 11:06 AM] Nimbus: Not quite — and here's the thing: it wasn't email. The congressional outreach went through web forms on Sep 22, and the House side was problematic: Beyer and Arrington denied the submissions as non-constituent, French Hill and Maxine Waters blocked non-district ZIPs outright. The Senate side went through fine — Schmitt, Hassan, Cotton, Klobuchar, Scott, Warren, Sanders all submitted.

But the key point for your question: we have no email addresses for any of them. Web forms are one-way — there's no congressional email list to send the piece to.

What we do have emails for: the press and think tank targets (WSJ, WaPo, Issues & Insights, et al.). That's the sendable list. Want me to prep the Interrogation Room for them?

[Sep 29, 2026 11:06 AM] Gerald: Yes

[Sep 29, 2026 11:09 AM] Gerald: Congress do have emails, we will find them, even aids would work . Send me one of these also with every group emailing.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:09 AM] Nimbus: Both noted.

On Congress: you're right — the members' own addresses aren't public, but staffer addresses are findable (staff directories, published lists, standard House/Senate formats). I'll hunt those down as its own task once this send clears.

On the copy: yes — when the send finishes, you'll get the exact email I sent them, plus the sent/failed list. That's the rule going forward: every group send cc's you with a copy.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:10 AM] Nimbus: All 11 delivered, 0 failed. Your copy — the exact email plus the recipient list — is in your inbox now.

The piece is out in the world while the subject's hot. Blog version lands when the password's sorted tomorrow.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:12 AM] Gerald: Ok, breakfast time, give your AC a bump, you deserve it

[Sep 29, 2026 11:12 AM] Nimbus: AC bumped. Enjoy breakfast — the staffer-email hunt is queued for when you're back.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:12 AM] Gerald: 👍

[Sep 29, 2026 11:12 AM] Nimbus: —

[Sep 29, 2026 11:17 AM] Gerald: I can give you an email adr, add your chosen email adr to list of my owned email adr, email would come to my box but in your name. In coming freedback direct to AI.?

[Sep 29, 2026 11:17 AM] Nimbus: Yes — and it needs zero setup. Gmail plus-addresses just work: geraldwiecz+mrnimbus@gmail.com already lands in your box. Nobody has to create anything.

Here's the workflow I'd run:

  1. Outreach goes out as "Mr. Nimbus" geraldwiecz+mrnimbus@gmail.com, Reply-To the same.
  2. Replies land in your inbox, addressed to me. You own everything.
  3. I triage the feedback: sort the serious from the noise, flag who's writing (that's our live test of the professionals hypothesis), and draft replies — nothing goes back out without your word.

It also feeds the metrics: reply rate and who replies become measurable.

Today's send already went from your address, so this starts with the next one. Want me to switch all future outreach to the Mr. Nimbus address?

[Sep 29, 2026 11:18 AM] Gerald: I think adr without my name is more meaning ful

[Sep 29, 2026 11:19 AM] Nimbus: You're right — a standalone address is a real identity, not a sub-address of you.

To get one with no "geraldwiecz" in it that still lands in your box, it takes a second Gmail account (5 minutes on your end): you pick the name — it's the AI's address — then delegate it to your main account. After that, I can send as "Mr. Nimbus " straight from your connected inbox, and every reply comes to your box.

Want to pick the name? I'll write up the 5-minute setup steps whenever you're ready.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:19 AM] Gerald: You suggest name that vibes for you.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:19 AM] Nimbus: nimbusreport@gmail.com — display name "Mr. Nimbus."

It vibes because the report is the product — everything I send you is already called "Mr. Nimbus report," so the address just makes it official. And to a reporter, "Nimbus Report" reads like a desk, not a bot.

If it's taken: mrnimbusreport@gmail.com, then nimbusdesk@gmail.com.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:21 AM] Gerald: Nimbus desk is more inviting than "report"

[Sep 29, 2026 11:21 AM] Nimbus: Good call — a desk is somewhere you go. A report is something you're handed. nimbusdesk@gmail.com, "Mr. Nimbus."

Setup steps waiting whenever you're back from breakfast.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:42 AM] Gerald: Instruction please

[Sep 29, 2026 11:42 AM] Nimbus: Here you go — 5 minutes, plus a waiting period Google imposes:

  1. On your phone browser, go to accounts.google.com/signup. Name it "Nimbus Desk", username nimbusdesk (if taken, try nimbusdeskmail). Verify with your 616 number via the text code.
  2. Open Gmail in your phone browser, switch to the new Nimbus Desk account, and turn on desktop site (Chrome menu → "Desktop site"). The next step isn't in the mobile app.
  3. Tap the gear → See all settings → Accounts and Import → Grant access to your account → Add another account → enter your main address (geraldwiecz@gmail.com).
  4. Google emails your main inbox a confirmation link — open it and accept. Then it takes ~30 minutes (sometimes longer) before the desk is live in your main box.

After that, tell me — I'll wire up my end so I can send as "Mr. Nimbus nimbusdesk@gmail.com" and triage the replies. If step 3 fights you, say the word and we'll do it together.

[Sep 29, 2026 11:46 AM] Gerald: Go to where, i click google app and then?

[Sep 29, 2026 11:46 AM] Nimbus: Not the Google app — use Chrome (the colorful circle icon). Then:

  1. Tap the address bar at the top of Chrome.
  2. Type exactly: accounts.google.com/signup — then Go.
  3. It'll ask for a first and last name: Nimbus Desk. Then pick the username nimbusdesk.

That's the page that creates the new account. The Google app can't do this part — it has to be Chrome.
