Mr. Nimbus report,
Oct 15, 9:19 PM EDT — Gerald: Ok no down side and i think google mail can get those email into gmail?
Oct 15, 9:19 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Yes — in the triple-t account’s Gmail settings, set up forwarding to your main Gmail, and everything lands in one inbox. Takes about a minute on desktop.
Once that’s on, say the word and I’ll start the Substack signup on the triple-t address — the verification email will come through to your main inbox, where I can read it.
Oct 15, 9:22 PM EDT — Gerald: And the 4000+posts could all be in counter terrorism section. Set up the substact for just get the parts up, connect them later, and im ignoring tokens they are much cheaper than i thought.
Oct 15, 9:22 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Substack setup’s underway — publication “Internet Anthropologist” with sections for Counter-Terrorism, Paradigms, Hypotheses, and Field Notes. It’ll pause at email verification; if your triple-t forwarding is on, the code lands in your main inbox, otherwise read it to me from the triple-t inbox when it arrives.
Oct 15, 9:23 PM EDT — Gerald: The internet anthropologist library.
Oct 15, 9:23 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Got it — “The Internet Anthropologist Library” it is.
Oct 15, 9:25 PM EDT — Gerald: Try geraldwiecz@gmail.com
Oct 15, 9:25 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Retrying with your main Gmail — and I can read that inbox, so if Substack sends the verification there, I’ll grab it.
Oct 15, 9:26 PM EDT — Gerald: 👍
Oct 15, 9:26 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Substack says it sent the verification to your main Gmail, but nothing’s landed yet — checked twice. Give it a few minutes and glance at your spam; if you see it, tell me and I’ll grab the link. If nothing shows, their sender may be throttled the same way the first attempt was.
Oct 15, 9:29 PM EDT — Gerald: Ok it asked for my password ??? When downloading app. Dont have one
Oct 15, 9:29 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Substack doesn’t use passwords — it signs you in through an email link. On the app, choose the email sign-in option and it’ll send the link to your Gmail. There’s no password to remember.
Oct 15, 9:30 PM EDT — Gerald: App askes for my password
Oct 15, 9:30 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Don’t use the password option — that’s for people who set one up before. Go back and pick the email sign-in; it sends you a link instead, no password needed.
Oct 15, 9:31 PM EDT — Gerald: I gave them the gerald email then asked for password i think we need to set up acct before we get app
Oct 15, 9:31 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Exactly right — the account gets created through that email link. Do the whole thing on your phone: enter your email, wait for Substack’s email in your Gmail app, tap the link. That creates the account and signs in the app in one move. Tell me when you’re in.
Oct 15, 9:32 PM EDT — Gerald: [screenshot]
Oct 15, 9:32 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Yes — hit “Take over,” then tap “try again” on that Substack page to resend the link. Then watch your Gmail app on your phone for Substack’s email and tap the link in it. Tell me when you’re in and I’ll build the publication.
Oct 15, 9:33 PM EDT — Gerald: No, i put in gerald adr and then it askes for pw
Oct 15, 9:34 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: You’re tapping “Sign in” — but you don’t have an account yet, so there’s nothing to sign into. Look for “Create an account” (it was at the bottom of that page) and start there instead.
Oct 15, 9:34 PM EDT — Gerald: This is just the app asking for the info
Oct 15, 9:34 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: Skip the app for now — do it in your phone’s browser instead. Go to substack.com there, create the account with your email, and tap the link when it lands in your Gmail. Once the account exists, the app will let you in.
Oct 15, 9:36 PM EDT — Gerald: Pull up the url, the site ill take it from you.
Oct 15, 9:36 PM EDT — Mr. Nimbus: https://substack.com — tap “Create an account” once you’re there.
